Computer-based Exams – A message from Aspeq
Aspeq is delighted to be delivering computer electrical worker registration exams. The first exam delivered during August 2018 was very well received. Aspeq is excited to be able to provide electrical worker examinations on a regular schedule in the future.
Since signing the contract with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in February 2018, Aspeq has worked with MBIE, Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB), and industry Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create question banks to cover the full suite of electrical worker registration examinations.
Moving to computer examinations allows electrical workers to complete their examinations at a higher frequency, allowing much quicker registration. Rather than having to wait for biennial paper exam sittings, candidates can sit their exams all year round and get their result online, within 24 hours of the exam sitting.
One SME who was initially unsure of the new process, provided the following feedback after testing one of the new exams during the development process:
“To be fair, I had my doubts in the very beginning, but I like what I saw today. I think it is a very fair assessment of whether an electrician has reached the required level of competence or not!!...Having been involved in this process for many moons, I feel the process has finally reached where it should be in 2018. My hat is off to you.”
Aspeq revels when receiving feedback like this, because we pride ourselves in meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations. We look forward to continuing to improve the services provided to the EWRB and all of our other customers, existing and future.
