e-Learning modules
From the beginning of 2018, all electrical workers are required to complete 2 e-Learning modules before attending an approved Board competency programme. These modules are designed to provide them with a baseline of understanding before they undertake the programme.
The e-Learning modules are structured to ensure that electrical workers are confident with the purpose and context of their learning before they start the competency programme. The assessments in the modules provide an opportunity for electrical workers to check their own understanding.
We recommend that these modules are completed immediately after enrolment with a Board approved competency programme provider.
The first module gives an overview of the programme. The second module provides a refresher on the fundamentals of electrical work in New Zealand.
The certificate generated at the conclusion of the modules provides workers with evidence that the modules have been completed. It is not an indication of whether the online modules have been passed or failed. Formal assessment of an electrical worker’s competence takes place when the worker attends the competency programme.
The certificate of completion must be printed and handed to the competency programme provider. Alternatively, electrical workers can take a screen shot of the certificate and show it to their competency programme provider.
We do not recommend that the modules are completed using a smart-phone as a device with a larger screen is needed.
