Managing asbestos

If you are a person who conducts a business undertaking (PCBU) and you know, or can reasonably expect that there is a risk of exposure to respirable asbestos fibres in a workplace, then you must make sure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that all asbestos or material containing asbestos is identified.

If there is asbestos it must be managed and there is a duty to develop an asbestos management plan.

Once a plan has been developed, you must make sure a copy is available to workers (or their representative) who has carried out, or intends to carry out work at the workplace that contains asbestos.
