Prosecution - EWRB v Brent Ayton
On 15 June 2021, Brent Ayton was sentenced on one charge of holding out to be a licensed electrician. In early 2020, Mr Ayton completed a property inspection report for the landlord of a residential property in Christchurch. At the top of the first page of the report, Mr Ayton wrote: “Licensed Registered Electrician #E 199690”. Mr Ayton was not a registered electrician. Mr Ayton was sentenced in the Christchurch District Court to a fine of $750, along with Court and solicitor’s costs. 90 percent of the fine was ordered to be paid to the Board.
