Prosecution - EWRB v Peter Atkins
In February 2019 the Board brought proceedings against Peter Atkins in the District Court at Christchurch. Mr Adkins had upgraded a meter box, installed an additional circuit in a lounge and had installed light fittings, power outlets and light switches. He was not registered or licenced to carry out the work and safety issues with the work were found on inspection of the property. Mr Atkins entered a guilty plea to a charge that he had carried out prescribed electrical work without the authorisation to do so. Mr Atkins was fined $2,000 and ordered to pay Solicitor and Court costs. The Court ordered that 90% of the fine was to be paid to the Board.
