The Board was established under section 148 of the Electricity Act 1992 (the Act). This section details the Board's purpose, structure and objectives.

Our role
The Board enhances electrical safety through improving competency of electrical workers in New Zealand by having a leading role in the sector to deliver occupational regulatory good practise.

Board members
The Board consists of 6 members from around New Zealand, representing both trade and the public. 4 members are registered electrical workers and 2 are lay members.

Board meetings
The Board meets every month (except January). It discusses licensing matters, compliance, strategic planning and policy matters, and deals with complaints and disciplinary matters.

Carry the same authority as regulations and must be adhered to.
